Given the tremendous success of the
Microsoft Windows operating systems in the modern business environment,
we have chosen to specialize in this platform. We are Microsoft Certified Professionals, qualified in Microsoft Windows®
Implementation and Support, and systems development with SQL Server, Microsoft
Access and Visual Basic.

For your convenience, we've included a brief description of some of the products
we use and their benefits.
DATABASE/DEVELOPMENT PLATFORMS
Microsoft
Access provides both a database as
well as tools for developing programs that include forms for entering and
reviewing data, as well as programmed reports for data presentation.
Access has a very powerful programming language
(VBA). When VBA is used to customize Access, it is possible to achieve highly
customized results with relatively little programming. This makes Access
development very cost-effective and an excellent solution
for small and medium-sized projects.
Additionally, the latest version of Microsoft Access has new capabilities
that permit data to be stored in Microsoft SQL Server and be readily accessible from a Microsoft Access front-end. This combination can provide an
optimal balance of performance and data-integrity for the data back-end, with
the Rapid Application Development advantages of the Microsoft Access
front-end.
System Requirements
Access requires Microsoft Windows® clients and can operate on any
network. Microsoft Access is generally considered suitable for
databases up to two Gigabytes (GB) in size and can support a maximum of 30
concurrent users. (These limitations do NOT apply when used in conjunction with
a SQL database)

Microsoft's
SQL-Server is an 'industrial-strength' database suited for situations
beyond the capabilities of Access - i.e. for database sizes of more than 2 GB or
needing to support more users. A
SQL-Server database is normally hosted on a dedicated server computer. This
database server can run any version of Windows, but NT/2000 are the preferred
platforms. Client systems (the PCs that access the database) can use any
version of Windows.
In general, the development and support of a
SQL-Server database is more demanding than that of an Access-based system.
However, when a high-capacity, robust database is required, SQL-Server can amply
meet the need.
WEB
PLATFORMS
For
web-development we have developed systems that query and write
to on-line databases. Using Active Server Pages (ASP), it is possible to
create very powerful web applications that interface to a company database.
These can be used, for example, to allow customers, vendors or traveling
salesmen, to view data that is relevant to them from anywhere that they can
connect to the web.
This same technology can also be used to deploy in-house
systems on a company Intranet. Of course, the major advantage of
web-applications is that there is no software that needs to be deployed and
maintained on the users' PCs - all they need is a web-browser! |
